Blessings of Baby Clothes

Over the years, we have been so blessed with donations of clothes, shoes, and toys to pass on to those around us. One of the ways that we give these items out in the Children’s Hospital is through the Baby Closet. This is when we go to the moms who are staying with their little ones and bring toys, hygiene items, and clothes for their babies. We prepare bundles of clothes throughout the week, and then every Friday morning 2 or 3 of us go throughout a few of the wards to encourage the moms and bring these little gifts to brighten their day. Some of the moms have children who get sick often, so we get to know them after a while and visit throughout the week during hospital shifts. Their babies get to know us too and are so excited when they see us coming with the basket of toys! How sweet to be able to not only take care of the babies and toddlers who are there alone, but also encourage and bless the moms who are staying with their little ones?

Sometimes while going to the moms and their babies, we’ll also have toys for the older kids who are staying there alone. Recently, there was a 12 year old boy who came up to one of us in the hospital and said, “I know you! I was here when I was little and you gave me a toy!” Maybe a toy car doesn’t mean much to some, but to him it meant that we cared and that memory stuck with him. It was a good reminder to stop and visit with the older kids too, and since then we try to have more toys with us to give them.

Thank you to all who have donated so many wonderful items, and to our volunteers who have helped make and distribute these adorable bundles of clothes! You are a blessing to us and to so many families and children.

Another Year of Teen Mums Comes to a Close

This year with our young Mums in Budila, we have spent time reflecting on God’s love, the Fruit of the Spirit, and young characters in the Bible God used to achieve big things for His Kingdom. We’ve celebrated birthdays, had some pampering, visited their homes, and had more visits from the head nurse and social […]

FFR Christmas celebrations in Budila

Thank you to everyone who helped make Christmas extra special for these precious kids and young moms!

“Yes! Jesus Loves Me!”

In America, one of the most loved and well-known children’s songs is “Jesus Loves Me.” Many of us grew up singing this song. The words are seemingly simple but the meaning behind them is a powerful as any song written. This past week Sarah Vienna joined the Teen Mums group to share her testimony. She told the girls what Jesus means to her and then taught them “Jesus Loves Me” in both English and Romanian. The girls were very attentive and interested in both the story and the song.

Please join with us in praying for each of the Teen Mums who has visited the program. Pray that they will come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and that He will start making changes in their lives. Also please pray for the team to have wisdom to know how to reach these girls and how to best help them.

Spending Time with Teen Mums and Babies

Our Teen Mums’ programme began on 18th October, and through a trial and error approach and lots of prayer, is growing and forming and flourishing.

So far…

  • We’ve had 6 young Mums attend, 5 regularly, with 7 children between them…and more on the way!
  • We’ve had 8 sessions, including a Christmas Party.
  • We’ve learnt about Abraham, Esther, the birth of Jesus, Noah, Psalm 139, and Creation, keeping our keys themes as ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ and ‘God has a great plan for our lives, you are important to God.’ It has been so encouraging to see how engaged and inspired the Mums have been by these messages so far.
  • We’ve made bracelets, photo frames, Christmas baubles, handprint pictures and more! The girls have loved making the crafts so much they sometimes don’t want to leave.
  • We’ve eaten countless biscuit and banana snacks and drank a lot of tea, even the babies.
  • We’ve celebrated 3 birthdays.
  • We’ve had conversations about relationships, baby care, and baby health.
  • We’ve seen and charted baby weight growth with our baby scales.
  • We’ve learnt 4 new songs.
  • And we’ve only had 2 tantrums, 3 stinky nappies and no broken toys!

For the new year, we have many exciting plans including: giving each girl a scrapbook so she can record her and baby’s time with us, sharing more Bible stories building on the theme of God caring for us, and having ‘guest speakers’ (volunteers who are also nurses/Mums) come and share what they know about breastfeeding, baby hygiene and more!

It has honestly been a joy and such a privilege, with the lovely Lidia and Steffi alongside me, to get to know these young Mums and babies and to see how much they’re already starting to grow and feel encouraged. I’m so excited to see what more God has in store for us this next year.

Please continue to pray for relationships to grow, for the girls to feel strengthened and empowered in the love God has for them, and for God’s wisdom for us in leading, planning and in reaching out and meeting the needs of these precious Mums and babies.

Baby Closet – How to Donate for Romanian Babies and Moms in Need

Thanks to all the wonderful donations that we receive, we are able to bless not only the children in our programs and the babies in the hospital, but also the mothers who are staying in the hospital with their sick children.

La Multi Ani! Happy Women’s Day!

Today, March 8 on International Women’s Day, we want to thank all the women who have been, are currently, and in the future will be involved with Firm Foundations Romania! We are so blessed to not only have volunteers come from around the world, but also for the Romanian women that we work with on […]

Shampoo to the Rescue

We’ve all been there – you walk into your hotel room, take a look around, is there a fridge? What about a safe? How about an iron or a hair dryer? The hotel you book will determine the amenities that come with it.

One thing is almost always constant, however, and those are the travel size shampoos, conditioners, soaps and lotions that come nicely wrapped in your hotel bathroom.

Whether or not you decide to use these items or pack them up and save them for later matters not, they are a hot commodity simply because they are handy and easy to bring along.

We’re going to let you in on a little secret, though. Those soaps, shampoos, lotions and conditioners are the perfect size for the bundles we put together for our Mom’s Project.

Maybe you don’t use the toiletry items provided, or maybe you pack them thinking you’ll use them later but simply end up with a stockpile that you don’t know what to do with. We’re asking that you consider us the next time these convenient shampoos and soaps come in to your possession.

If you are interested in donating these travel size items to Firm Foundations Romania to be used in the bundles that we hand out to the mothers in our Mom’s Project, please contact Heather   Zorzi at:
