Germany IMPACT Tour 2018 Update

Thank you for all your support, love, and prayers, as the 2018 tour in Germany went incredibly well. Sarah and Steffi were able to raise funds, recruit volunteers, while making new friends and contacts for who support FFR’s mission. Three newspapers posted an article about the tour as well! Check out the below video to see concert clips:

Sarah had many highlights from the tour, including:

“One big highlight for me was sharing a sermon at the Christus Gemeinde Pforzheim on Spiritual Adoptions based off from Romans 8:14-17 and Ephesians 4:4-7. We were all spiritual orphans until we became spiritually adopted through the Holy Spirit by our Heavenly Father.

Leading worship singing Amazing Grace in three languages, English, German, and Romanian was a test of my language skills! Thank God singing in a different language is easier than speaking it at times!

Singing “My Home Brasov” and seeing the Romanians in the audience whose home town is Brasov was very touching for me. It was a heart to heart moment of love and appreciation for the beauty of this city. Moments like these on stage will never be forgotten.”

Special thanks to Steffi Vogel for the amazing job she did translating from English to German, as well as sharing about FFR’s projects and needs. Steffi has such a great way of making people feel appreciated and loved.

Thanks also goes out to all who hosted and organized for this tour, as well as to the musicians and German Ambassadors who assisted with concerts and presentations. It could not have been done without you!

The Backbone of our After School Program

Do you remember your favorite teacher? The one who made you feel extra special, or helped you understand a subject you never understood before, or gave extra recess time to the class. Our hope and prayer each is year is to find teachers for our After School Program who the kids will remember with fond memories. The teachers who go above and beyond and see each child for the potential that he or she is worth.

We are thankful for the Project Manager and the three teachers who will be educating the 130 children enrolled in the After School Program. This team of four (from left in the above picture: Ioana, Andreea, Project Manager Daniela, Iszabella) will be helping inspire the future, through educational assistance and homework help, and will be teaching about God’s love and hope. Please keep the program in your prayers – for safety and health for the teachers and for the students to progress in both school and in knowing who God is. We believe this is going to be a great year and we look forward to keeping you updated.

Love can make a difference

Through our work in the Brasov Children’s Hospital, we have the opportunity to care for and love many babies and children. Some we know well and have watched them grow up back and forth between their home and the hospital since shortly after birth, and others are only in for a few days here and […]

FFR’s Ambassador Of The Month

What is an FFR Ambassador? Someone who goes beyond their daily routine to assist FFR with various tasks outside of Romania.

Jill Corrales, who is currently in the Navy and stationed at MCAS (Marine Corps Air Station) in Cherry Point, NC, learned more about FFR after her daughter Odessa came to volunteer in May 2016. Jill is currently connecting with donors, sending thank you cards on behalf of FFR, collecting and shipping school supplies for our After School Program, and posting scriptures and encouraging words on Facebook to keep volunteers motivated to reach out to humanity. We are very blessed by Jill’s teamwork and support of FFR!

While Odessa was volunteering in Romania, she had the chance to meet Sofia and, like all of us, fell in love with her. Jill shares that love for Sofia even though she hasn’t met her in person yet. Included in her boxes of school supplies, Jill sent a Christmas gift for Sofia and her family. Our volunteers were able to give them the presents when Sofia’s parents brought her to the hospital for a follow up appointment. They were so appreciative and thankful, and Sofia was thrilled with her new musical toy. Sofia continues to get bigger, stronger, and healthier each day. Thank you to everyone who is praying for this little girl. And a big thank you to Jill for making Sofia and her family feel special and for all the work being done on behalf of FFR.

No Boredom with the Board

We often talk about how blessed FFR is to have volunteers come from around the world to help in Romania. This past week we received an additional blessing when three of our board members (a Board of Directors oversees the activities of a company or organization) came all the way to Romania to see the projects first hand and meet our wonderful team. April Herin came a bit earlier than the others and was joined by her sister who lives in Dubai. They served the children in Romania by doing hospital shifts, going to the orphanage, and visiting Budila. It was wondering to have them here over Thanksgiving as well! For one board member, Turino Fuad, accompanied by his wife Vera, this was his first time ever to visit FFR. Though he’s been assisting FFR in the accounting department for years, Turino was able to personally experience the projects and enjoy the beauty of Brasov. Our third board member who came was Paul Giobbi. Paul came with his family for a 24 hour visit in 2014, and once again came for just over 24 hours! Though a short visit, we squeezed in a tight schedule of activities! Unfortunately Raelene Schmalz was not able to join, and we missed having our last board member with us.

After showing the board each of our projects, we enjoyed an evening of music at our Benefit Concert (blog post coming soon). Saturday was spent meeting with our project managers and brainstorming about the future of FFR. We are excited about new things on the horizon which will help us reach more children, have a bigger impact in Romania, and enable more people to hear about Jesus Christ and receive His hope! That evening the FFR team was invited out to dinner where we had a fun, relaxing evening.

We so appreciate our board of directors and their hearts for Romania! We hope to see them all again soon.

La Multi Ani! Happy Women’s Day!

Today, March 8 on International Women’s Day, we want to thank all the women who have been, are currently, and in the future will be involved with Firm Foundations Romania! We are so blessed to not only have volunteers come from around the world, but also for the Romanian women that we work with on […]

We Are Thankful…

Today we are thankful for the hearts of people who give when there is a need. Two of our Kids Club families and two of our After School Program families have received new sobas this winter!
