Happy Thanksgiving from Romania!

FFR is thankful for:
  • Our long term team
  • International volunteers
  • Financial donors
  • Prayer warriors
This year we are thankful to God for the many blessings that have been provided from around the world to help the Romanian children feel loved, wanted, and supported. When Sarah and Steffi walked into the Children’s Hospital in 2005 they provided one bag of diapers each day. Eleven years later we are now providing over 56,000 diapers on a yearly basis. God has blessed FFR with growth and finances to be able to grow not only with diaper support but with educational programs in the Roma villages. We are thankful!

Paste Fericit (Happy Easter)

For thosIMG_8451e of us living in Romania, we are blessed to be able to celebrate Easter twice most years! Romania is a primarily Orthodox country, which uses a different calendar system than the Western church. “The formula for Easter—”The first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox”—is identical for both Western and Orthodox Easters, but the churches base the dates on different calendars: Western churches use the Gregorian calendar, the standard calendar for much of the world, and Orthodox churches use the older, Julian calendar.”

This year Romania celebrated Easter on May 1st. Our volunteers and teenage girls came together to celebrate this holiday with good food, lots of fun and fellowship. Everyone enjoyed the celebration, and most importantly, we recognized once again just how blessed we are to have a God who loves us unconditionally!

A little bit of culture

For the past four weeks our volunteer activities have followed a bit of a theme. It began with a decision to make British scones, which we ate along with English tea and watching Pride and Prejudice. A super British night. Read more
